Artist Statement

I can build a better fire than most Eagle Scouts. I am comfortable in the woods and this is reflected in my artwork. While in college at Chapel Hill, it has been a challenge to find places that satisfy my need for the quiet that comes from a lack of human technology and the stillness of untouched wilderness. Moments and places where I have been able to find the lonely quiet of the woods in a humanity centered world make up the subject of my artwork. When nature takes back what man has abandoned, breaking down landscapes and creating new ones, I am there with my camera and sketchpad, translating through my artwork.
